About Us

Born out of a frustration at the lack of reasonably-priced, beautifully-made yet functional planters in Singapore, we decided to take things into our own hands. We source our pots from all around the world, curating planters that we’d want in our own home and working with makers whose work we admire.

What is a potto, you ask?

It’s Japanese for pot (…according to Google translate, but we’ve since been informed that it’s usually used to describe kettles rather than plant pots), and also a slow-moving African primate known as ‘softly-softly’ in English-speaking parts of Africa. We’re all about the former, but the latter embodies what we enjoy most about plants: a chance to quieten, slow down and to just be.

Each month, 10% of our sale proceeds will be donated to a conservation / environmental charity that you will help us choose.

If you’re reading this you can probably attest to the fact that plants and gardening bring a new (or renewed) sense of wonder and appreciation for nature. We want to channel that appreciation into supporting causes that help preserve species, habitats and communities.

We care about reducing waste.

Our appreciation for nature extends to caring for the earth – for that reason, we choose to reuse packaging materials to pack your order over creating more waste. It’s not the most glamorous thing to see when you open up your box, but we hope that you, too, will find a way to reuse them. 10% from the sale of your order will also go to supporting a conservation charity that is working to preserve this earth we so appreciate.
